Long time Lurker, ready to join in...

hi all, i'm a long time lurker, ready to join in and add my two cents worth now and then!

i was in the religion for 25 years, out now for 8, along with my husband, daughter, and son!

i would have to say pretty much the whole time i was in i didnt want to be, pretty much "dreaded" all aspects of it, meetings, service, assemblies, and talks, i hated talks, man o man would i be grouchy the whole week i had a scheduled talk.. we didnt have much family in, but lots of friends and many jw employees, pretty much lost all that, down to just one jw employee left(thats a good thing).

Could the New Light About the Faithful&Discrete Slave Open the Governing Body to more Lawsuits?

can a skillful lawyer use this information in court as evidence of lack of fullfillment of fuduciary duty on thier part since they claim to be the only true religion and obedience is a life and death matter.. just saying could not the governing body just be falling into a trap of thier own making and not even be consciously realizing it?

and maybe consciously and unconsciously thier legal team is pushing them that way conspiracy theorys could take many turns on that one.. how about conspiracies that operate in the collective unconscious level, conspirering against them unconscious to them making themselve thier own worst enemy..

Not really, Tylin, other than the Society has laid out a process that must be followed by all.

The elders can SHARE the blame with WTBTS, but ALL still have skin in the game but only IF the elders elevate the matter to the Society. If anything, a lack of notification by elders effectively SHIELDS the Society from liability, rather than exposes them.

The October 1, 2012 Letter to all Bodies of Elders regarding Child Abuse stipulates that the Society takes responsibility for decisions about child abuse. In terms of legal liability, this might be good for the elders but not the Watchtower Society. The Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses has placed themselves wide open for legal liability.

Nope, as the letter still obliges elders to elevate concerns to WTS in order to make the final call on repeat offenders, to be labelled as "predators".

Hence, the local elders STILL face full responsibility if they fail to elevate such concerns to WTS, and the WTS can (and likely will) use a defense of elders keeping them "out of the loop" by trying to resolve the matter completely at the local level. That gives them an effective shield.

a video will be posted later today where all the mysteries of god, the disgusting thing causing desolation, all the contradictions in the bible, why god in the old testament seemed so cruel, why was satan created if god is good, how is god love?

all of the prophecies jesus had foretold which were hidden and lost yet being fullfilled the entire time.

this is the good news that will then spread worldwide, and then the end will come.

Does that mean that I've got Divine Approval, since I've got no time limits on my monetized YouTube account (to which I upload the occasional atheist video)? I take that as a sign that I am SAVED!! Hallelujah!!

(Although, I can relate to feeling at times as if someone upstairs was working against my plans, esp after a computer crash meant I lost a completed project (corrupted the file) as I was trying to upload it; I had to re-do it, essentially from scratch, as most of back-ups (on other drives) ALSO were corrupted (and I didn't realize it). It was like the perfect storm of data loss....

i really didn't realise that words like "row" and "frock" are not common in the us.. glad to see "autumn", "queue", "numpty", "muppet" making a splash over there.. even "chav" and "innit" are being used apparently.. hey all you irish/scottish/welsh/english posters, what other words should our friends over the water be using?.

wassock, fathead, plonker are three off the top of my head..

It was argued that the FDS was just a theological arrangement. It was a silly argument but at least it served to isolate individuals from legal liability.

Yeah, I'm not seeing this change as being all that significant. It still IS a theological arrangement, not a legal one.

All you have is a bunch of rotating cast of fogies who've made it to the top of the food chain who claim to communicate with God telling a larger group of old fogies scattered around the Earth (who delusionally believe they're going to heaven) that they don't communicate with God: no change, since no one's talking to God, and no ones going to heaven.

So where's the beef, again? How is this Earth-shattering, again?

00Dad, save the "self-righteous, pompous" accusations: not all of us had the benefit of being in the JWs for 25 years (you joined as an ADULT, did you?).

It seems your ego still revolves around being a JW elder who can push your ideas via proclamation, but this is not the KH, and we're not your publishers. So if you're not willing to have your mistaken understanding of JW eschatology corrected for the sake of getting to TTATT in a valid and truthful manner, then make sure of your facts before posting (or, you can seek reinstatement into the JWs, and see if you can struggle your way back to the BOE). Because from here, you are simply living up to JW expectations, and coming off as just another raging hate-filled apostate.

And don't bother responding, unless you've got something OT to say. It's not about YOU or ME, but getting to the truth, the reality, so others are not going to be shot down by a JW on the issue who simply corrects their misunderstanding.
